Experience we build on: conversational AI over SMS.

Our programme model builds on real delivery experience in low-bandwidth, conversational and inclusive digital-service environments.

What we have demonstrated, and what we are ready to co-design.

What we have demonstrated

  • Conversational AI over SMS
  • Low-bandwidth service delivery
  • Intent recognition
  • Conversational education
  • Structured customer journeys
  • Onboarding support
  • Human escalation
  • Telecom integration
  • Service routing

What we are ready to co-design with partners

  • Public-service access
  • Digital health
  • Agriculture and climate services

  • Broader financial inclusion programmes
  • Government and development-sector service delivery

Two services that shaped our model.

Both were developed by Aga Intelligence (Pty) Ltd, the organisation behind Africa Access Labs, on Moozy.ai infrastructure.

Demonstrated capabilityLive service · SMS

Smart SMS: conversational AI beyond smartphones

Live Smart SMS service delivered with a Botswana mobile network operator.

Challenge

Advanced digital services often assume a smartphone, an app and mobile data.

Approach

Aga Intelligence developed Smart SMS to enable conversational AI and digital assistance through ordinary text messaging, without requiring an app or a mobile-data connection.

Channel

SMS, on basic phones as well as smartphones.

Relevance to Africa Access Labs

It shows how familiar communications infrastructure can become an inclusive entry point to information and digital services for low-bandwidth and digitally underserved users.

Capability demonstrated

  • Conversational AI
  • SMS integration
  • Low-bandwidth service delivery
  • Intent handling
  • Mass-market channel integration
  • Service routing

How we apply it responsibly

In programme settings, answers are restricted to approved, partner-owned content, people are told they are using an automated service, and questions that need judgement are routed to accountable people.

Demonstrated capabilityInsurance · SMS

Inclusive insurance: from education to action over SMS

Developed for a Botswana insurance provider.

Challenge

Customers without smartphones, mobile data or conventional banking access can be excluded from digital insurance journeys.

Approach

Aga Intelligence developed an intent-aware SMS chatbot that recognises what a customer wants, explains approved insurance information in plain language and guides them toward the appropriate onboarding, payment or next service step.

Channel

SMS, designed for low-bandwidth use.

Relevance to Africa Access Labs

It demonstrates that SMS can support more than information delivery: it can form part of a structured service journey, from education to action.

Capability demonstrated

  • Intent recognition
  • Financial education
  • Conversational onboarding
  • Low-bandwidth service journeys
  • Structured routing
  • Conversion support
  • Human escalation

Accountable decisions

The chatbot informs and guides. Underwriting, claims, suitability, credit and other regulated decisions remain with the regulated institution and its people.

Capability is the starting point. Evidence is the finish line.

Demonstrated capability tells partners we can build and run low-bandwidth service journeys. Whether a programme works for people is a separate question, answered with baselines, monitoring and evaluation agreed with partners.

See how we measure what changes

What stands between people and the service you need them to reach?

We work with governments, development partners and implementing organisations to identify that gap, design an accessible service journey and test what works.
